Stefan Schulz-Drost graduated at the medical school of Erlangen, Germany (Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen -Nuremberg) in 1997. After this he has been trained in different surgical specialities and emergency medicine at Erlangen University hospital where he still works as an academic teacher. There he became a specialist for orthopedic and trauma surgery within the years 2004-2014. The following years until 2019 were dedicated to severely injured at the BG hospital Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin where Stefan Schulz-Drost became an European Trauma and Emergency Surgeon (UEMS). Since April he is the head of the Department of Trauma Surgery in Schwerin, which is a Level 1 Trauma center in northern Germany. Stefan Schulz-Drost started to perform rib Fixation with Rib plates at the earliest time the implants were available in Germany. The first Approach was to manage the unstable chest wall in recurrent pectus deformities. He inaugurated the Elastic Stable Chest Repair and teach a lot of surgeons how to perform this technique and the Management of chest wall injuries. Moreover he dedicated his work to minimization of surgical approaches, epidemiologic and biomechanic investigations as well as a classification System following the AO Standards.
